Management of Chronic Pain
This eight - part CME series addresses the challenges of managing patients with chronic nonmalignant pain. In addition to reviewing the evidence-based recommendations about assessment and management, the series also offers strategies and tools to assist physicians in integrating these principles into practice. The eight program, focused on Neuropathic Pain is currently in production And will be available in the fall.
Series Objectives
- Review evidence-based guidelines for assessment and management of acute and chronic nonmalignant pain
- Provide tools to assist with the assessment of pain in clinical practice
- Review nonpharmacological treatment options
- Discuss available analgesics (opioid, nonopioid, adjuvant) and their use in pain management
- Discuss issues and misconceptions in the management of acute and chronic nonmalignant pain
- Discuss approaches to monitoring treatment response, managing adverse effects and optimizing outcomes in pain patients
- Identify challenges and barriers to the effective management of pain and provide insight regarding potential solutions
- Discuss strategies for pain management in patients with risk factors for substance abuse or a current or past history of substance abuse
